State of Blockchain Funding – Q1 2021
Could 2021 be the best year for blockchain venture financing? Joel John, a crypto enthusiast who publishes his regular state of funding reports, believes so. In his latest piece, Joel John reveals how much funds have been raised in Q1 and dives into the specifics of seed raises and funds distribution. He also points out what to watch out for in the future.
Introducing Malt — A New Algo Stablecoin
A lot of new algorithmic stablecoins have been issued recently. However, using protocols instead of collaterals hasn’t been too successful.
One of the projects that may stand a chance, at least according to its creators, is Malt – a capital-efficient token that can be effectively pegged to any value. Malt holders can profit on the coin by bonding LP (farming LP tokens and then receiving rewards when Malt climbs above peg) or via arbitrage auctions.
DeFi Lending Platform Aave Reveals ‘Permissioned Pool’ for Institutions
Money market protocol Aave is launching a private pool specifically for institutional investors so that they could test what DeFi is all about before they go into the real world. Not all DeFi enthusiasts support the idea of institutions joining the space, but maybe they won’t have to worry about it at all. It is still unclear how exactly institutional investors can participate in this protocol.
The Most Flexible and Efficient AMM Is Live — Meet Balancer V2
After over a year of development, Balancer V2 is live and accessible with a new user interface. Apart from the new interface and lower gas fees, it features community Multisig, V1 to V2 liquidity migration, new BAL Liquidity Mining, and dynamic-fee pools powered by Gauntlet. Also, Balancer Labs has partnered up with quite a few platforms to ensure that the V2 user experience is on point.

UNI Should Become an Oracle Token
How do you feel about price oracles? Some believe that UNI by Uniswap should become one. Price oracles are an essential part of the efficient DeFi ecosystem as algorithmic stablecoins, synthetic assets, and collateralized loads depend on them. Although Uniswap already provides this functionality for ERC20, it doesn’t go beyond that. Vitalik Buterin suggests that UNI, a token with a large market cap, can make an excellent price oracle.
